How We Work

01

Asbestos Check

Ceilings textured before 1990 can hold asbestos, so in an older home we take a sample and wait for the lab result before anything gets scraped. Scraping is what puts asbestos fibres into the air, and breathing them in is a serious health risk.

02

Seal & Protect

The room gets emptied, the floors and doorways go under plastic, and the vents and fixtures get taped shut. The dust stays in the one room we’re working in, so the rest of your home stays clean.

03

Popcorn Removal

The texture comes down, then the ceiling gets one coat prefill and two coats of drywall compound and a full sanding to a Level 5 finish. Popcorn was often sprayed on to hide rough seams, and the skim coat is what makes the ceiling perfectly flat.

04

Paint & Cleanup

A sealer coat and two coats of ceiling paint go on, the plastic comes down, and the room gets vacuumed. If you’re not fully satisfied for any reason, we’ll fix it before the invoice is final.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

One room usually lands between $800 and $1,800, and multiple rooms or a full main floor between $2,500 and $6,000. That covers the removal, the repairs, the skim coat, and priming and painting the ceiling.

Where yours falls depends on the size of the space, the ceiling height, the condition of the drywall underneath, and whether the texture was painted over. The on-site visit is free, and you get an itemized quote so you can see exactly what each part costs.

No. Nothing gets added to your bill without your yes.

It’s possible. Textured ceilings applied before 1990 can contain asbestos, which is why we test before anything gets scraped in an older home.

If the test comes back clear, we get to work. If it comes back positive, the removal has to be done by a licensed asbestos abatement contractor.

We’ll explain exactly what that means for your timeline and your budget, and we’ll pick the job back up once the ceiling is clear. What we won’t do is scrape it and hope for the best.

Far less than you’re expecting. We seal the room off with plastic, and we wet the texture so it comes off in wet clumps rather than as airborne dust. The mess stays inside the containment, and the space gets cleaned properly at the end.

It depends on the size of your project and how booked we are. If you’re working to a hard deadline, put it in your message and we’ll work around it wherever we can.

One room is typically [X–Y] working days from containment to the final coat, since the skim coat and the paint each need time to dry. A full main floor takes longer. You get a firm start and finish date before we begin.

We can work with premium or standard lines too. We’ll tell you the difference in durability, washability, and the price difference between them. Colour matching and colour advice are included.

Yes. We’re fully licensed and carry both liability insurance and WCB coverage, plus we’re trained in lead abatement. So you can hire with complete peace of mind.

You walk the space with us at the end and if you’re not fully happy with something, we fix it before the invoice is final.
